Hoses made for different industries

A hose is a flexible, hollow tube that can carry fluids from one place to another. It's cylindrical in shape and is designed based on its application and power to perform. Factors that come into hose designing include size, weight, pressure rating, length, coilhose or straight hose and chemical compatibility. Hoses are made from one or combining many different materials together such as nylon, PVC, polyethylene and natural rubbers.

Quality flexible hoses are supplied to pharmaceutical, petrochemical, chemical, food and beverage and textile industries. The composition of various hoses differs a lot depending on its kind, for example a food quality hose and a pharmaceutical hose will be made of entirely different material. There's a lot of competition between hose manufacturers to get the best deals with companies that regularly need hoses, couplings and related products in their day to day activities. Different kinds of hoses have different kind of inner and outer structure and are made of material best suited to their application/purpose. For example, a petrochemical hose that is used by tank trucks, petrochemical stations etc. to carry petroleum products from one place to another under pressure, suction and gravity flow should be lightweight (at least half the weight of a regular rubber hose) and its aromatic content should never go above 40%. The engineers of hose manufacturing companies discuss with their clients and identify and assess options keeping in the mind the conditions at hand before providing with the right hose using approved and industry standard components.

Other different kinds of hoses include silicone hose. They find use in the food and beverage industries, medical and dairy industries among others. Silicone is kind of a high purity platinum and it is the main component of the tubing. PVC hoses are however the kind of hoses that find usefulness in both industries and household applications. PVC hoses with a polyester thread are very reliable at working under high pressures. Being extremely flexible thereby allowing smooth flow of fluid through the cross section of the hose, PVC hoses are slowly become very popular. They are very suitable for handling industrial fluids through air and water lines. But it must be ensured that the hoses are made from PVC materials of low toxicity that has been approved of contact with food materials and drinks. PVC hoses are resistant to most liquids although the reason for its widespread use is mainly because PVC is the only transparent hose material around. Steam hose is another kind of hose used for steam applications that operate in high temperatures. They are highly useful while high pressure cleaning, streilising, pipe defrosting and fire snuffing.

A new innovation in hose manufacturing is the production of composite hoses. It's an unique kind of hose consisting of spirally bound plies of thermoplastics and films put together by wire helices. The hose has high radial and longitudinal strength which prevents the contents from escaping. Composite hoses are constructed in such a way so as to make its wall highly corrugated. This gives a high amount of flexibility to the hose and allows to be easily lengthened under pressure as opposed to rubber hoses. Both composite and rubber hoses have similar uses but the former are much more lighter and flexible which makes its a preferred choice over rubber hoses. Though among rubber hoses, FEP lined hose whose inner tube is made of Chemofluor is similar to a composite hose in terms of usefulness. This kind of hose employs  C-Flex tubing made of a specialized thermoplastic elastomer that caters to the needs of many different industry purposes.
